I recently attended volleyball tournament at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center where she was representing Pipeline Volleyball Club. As a parent watching this club and my daughter play for the first time, I left disappointed with the coaching approach and overall player development philosophy. What stood out most was the uneven playing time throughout the matches. Several girls spent most of the time on the bench while a small group played nearly the entire game. The frustrating part was that the skill level between most of the players did not appear dramatically different. At this age, development, confidence, and game experience should matter just as much as winning. Bench players also deserve opportunities to grow, contribute, and feel valued as part of the team. Watching other clubs at the tournament, I noticed coaches actively encouraging players, rotating athletes more fairly, teaching during the game, and creating a more positive team environment. In comparison, our experience felt discouraging and overly focused on a select few players. Youth sports should build confidence and passion for the game, not leave kids frustrated and defeated on the sidelines after families invest significant time, travel, and money. At this point, I honestly feel private training may have been a better investment for my daughter’s development. I hope the club reevaluates its coaching philosophy and focuses more on player development, encouragement, and fair opportunities for all athletes.
I can’t say enough good things about this club! My daughter has grown so much, both as a player and a person, since joining. Coach Joe, her head coach, is phenomenal—he’s incredibly knowledgeable about the game and is running a fantastic program for all the coaches. His confidence in my daughter has made such a difference. She’s playing more freely and improving every day because of his guidance and support. Coach Raychel is absolutely amazing. Her energy is contagious, and you can tell the girls look up to her—not just as a coach but as a talented volleyball player herself. She knows how to lift them up and give them the confidence they need to succeed. The facility is by far the cleanest I’ve ever seen, and the owners are so friendly and welcoming. On top of that, the gear and merch are both affordable and super cute—such a nice bonus! Most importantly, my daughter is the happiest she’s ever been. Seeing her thrive here is everything. I highly recommend this club to anyone looking for a positive, professional, and supportive volleyball environment!
Avoid this club at all costs, parents, please read the Yelp reviews for Pipeline Volleyball and The Draft Sports Complex (the facility where this club operates) before committing. My experience with this volleyball club has been one of the most poisonous environments I have ever encountered in youth sports. They start by holding “tryouts” that are designed to make every girl feel like a star. Almost everyone I knew who tried out was told they were “good enough” for a regional or even national-level team, often a much higher level than they had realistically expected. The girls leave the tryout excited, confident, and already imagining themselves competing at a big tournament. Once the girls are thrilled about their “placement,” parents are hit with a sales pitch to sign a contract that locks them into a nearly $6,000 commitment. What they conveniently don't tell you (unless you dig through the fine print) is that they overstaff every team with a mix of good as well as deeply unqualified players. As a result, many girls end up riding the bench for the entire season with virtually zero playing time. It’s heartbreaking to watch your own daughter playing while her friends sit on the sidelines looking crushed. Even worse is seeing the parents who realize they’ve been scammed. When those parents dare to complain, they’re quickly shut down. The club knows they’re essentially the only major volleyball program in the Riverside area, so they act like they have zero competition and zero reason to care about customer satisfaction. One Yelp reviewer even described how the owner personally went out of his way to publicly shame the daughter of the parents who left a negative review, including calling the girl’s school. That level of retaliation is outrageous and downright mafia-like. If you care about your daughter’s confidence, development, and enjoyment of the sport, I strongly recommend keeping her far away from this club and this poisonous environment.
This is my daughter's first club season of volleyball. We had heard so many positive things about Pipeline and they have a very good reputation in the club circuit. So far the experience has been amazing. My daughter is growing so much as a player and learning each practice. She started doing private lessons with Coach Tori on a weekly basis and we couldn't be more pleased with the progress she is making. highly recommend Pipeline
Pipeline Volleyball Club is awesome! Coach Rachel is super energetic and really knows her stuff. She makes practices fun but also challenging she , always giving us tips and cheering us on. The team is really supportive. I've gotten so much better at volleyball and feel more confident playing. I'm so grateful for this season because it's helped me improve a lot and I've had such a great time with my teammates.
